Oxygen Cheer Pty Ltd is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children and young people involved in our programs and activities. This Child Safe Policy is in accordance with the Child Safety Standards set by the New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland (QLD) Governments.

Child Safety Standards

Oxygen Cheer Pty Ltd adheres and continuously strives and educates staff to the following 10 key standards, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people:

Code of Conduct for Employees, Volunteers, and Contractors

1.  Management Responsibilities:

 1.1 Overall welfare and well-being of children, staff and volunteers.

 1.2 Accountability for managing and maintaining a duty of care.

 1.3 Nomination of a Child Protection Officer to support staff, volunteers, children, and their carers.

 

2. All Individuals Involved:

   2.1 Work towards organisation aims and purposes.

   2.2 Responsibility for relevant administration of programs.

   2.3 Maintenance of a duty of care towards others involved.

   2.4 Establishment and maintenance of a child-safe environment.

   2.5 Fair, considerate, and honest conduct.

   2.6 Respectful treatment of children and young people. 

   2.7 Positive role modelling for children and young people.

   2.8 Professional actions.

   2.9 Strict impartiality.

   2.10 Compliance with organisational guidelines on physical contact with children.

   2.11 Respect for privacy and limited disclosure of information.

   2.12 Operation within the policies and guidelines of Oxygen Cheer Pty Ltd.

   2.13 Immediate contact with the police if a child is at risk of abuse (phone 000).

  1. Prohibited Conduct:

    3.1 No shaming, humiliating, oppressing, belittling, or degrading children.

   3.2 No unlawful discrimination against any child.

    3.3 No activities likely to physically or emotionally harm children.

    3.4 No unnecessary physical contact or personal tasks for children.

   3.5 No unnecessary alone time with a child.

    3.6 No development of 'special' relationships for personal needs.

   3.7 No favouritism through gifts or inappropriate attention.

   3.8 No contact outside of organisational programs.

   3.9 No unauthorised photography or video without consent.

   3.10 No working under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

   3.11 No open discussions of a mature or adult nature in the presence of children.

   3.12 No use of inappropriate language in the presence of children.

   3.13 No actions in contravention of organisational policies or this Code of Conduct.

Consequences of Breach

Any breach of this Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment or cessation of engagement with Oxygen Cheer Pty Ltd.
